Paid Links
Our previous article was about Reciprocal Links and today we will discuss paid links.
Paid links are exactly that. Paid for listings in premier directories with a high page rank or paid for text links. As part of an initial web marketing campaign it is a proven and effective tactic to get your page ranked quickly. As your website matures and accumulates links you can then start moving away from using paid links.
By focusing your paid for web marketing efforts on text links you are more likely to get web surfers clicking through on them, as it has been conclusively proven that web surfers generally avoid other ad formats that are typically less relevant and more annoying, focusing on text instead.
As search engines are heavily biased towards organic search results, which are predominantly driven by text links, this is a more relevant form of web marketing. However search engines prefer links from relevant editorial content on authority websites, so that links that are grouped together with other paid links (especially if those links are to less relevant commercial websites) might carry less weight with them.
