Organic
Use of the word Organic is another example of language evolution driven by the evolution of the internet. When used in an agricultural context, organic refers to a certain desirable quality in fresh produce, free from artificial inputs like pesticides, chemical fertilizers, hormones, antibiotics, etc. Organic is deemed to be the epitome of natural, wholesome and healthy. Having a certified organic label on produce is an indication of perfectly natural quality, the best of the best.
Standard organic search engine results are associated with unpaid or algorithmic listings that get classified according to relevance and perceived importance or authority by search engines. This is primarily determined by Link Data, Page Content, Usage Data, Domain History and Authority Related Data.
Organic results are very desirable as research shows that 60% to 80% of clicks from returned search engine results are on the organic search results, vs paid for listings (even if they're text links they are placed on a less than optimal position on the page), banner ads, etc.
