Identifying your keywords and keyword phrases are critical in directing targeted traffic to your website. The trick is to put yourself in the shoes of the prospective customer.
You have to ask yourself the following question: “What keywords or keyword phrases would I immediately associate with my website's products, services or content?” Identifying these Keywords and Keyword Phrases is accomplished via careful keyword research e.g. If your website is about crystals, the keyword “baby” will hardly target your anticipated market. It is an extreme example, but it serves to illustrate the point.
There are loads of tools and utilities available on the web to help make this task easier. Trick is to focus on keyword phrases, rather than individual keywords, especially in very competitive niches of the market, e.g “healing crystals” will return far fewer results than “crystals”
