This is an important part of your search engine optimization process, as you will be looking to focus your efforts on the keywords and keyword phrases that will both describe your business as succinctly as possible, whilst being as unique as possible. The more common the words and terms you use, the more competition there will be for returning a high ranking with the search engines for that specific search query.
Here are a few avenues to explore in your keyword research efforts.
- 1. First of all identify your opposition and then have a look at what keywords and keyword phrases they're using by analyzing their page content.
- 2. Use keyword research tools, they help you to discover potential keywords and phrases by evaluating past search trends and data.
- 3. Evaluate and assess your server logs and analytics information.
- 4. Interact with clients & visitors to your site, getting customer feedback is very helpful. It is important to ascertain how customers found your website and why they chose to do business with you. You can communicate with them direct or place a search box or questionnaire on your website to see what people are looking for.
- 5. If you're active in a very competitive market niche you should look at longer keyword phrases to target, being creative is the trick here.
